Warriors supreme duo Jodie Bruce and Angie Brittle both making finals



Well what a night for the newly created Sheffield Franchise League sponsored by the Leadmill,Players Bar as the compilation finals got under way with no fewer than 5 tournaments in one evening with the Youths,Ladies,Merit Cup,Legends tournament and the Open with some finals to be played on presentation night and some played on the night and it was bottom side Warriors who shined brightest on the night as there players performed brilliant.We start with the future of the game the Youth and any player under the age of 18 would take part.Michael Slack from the Wizards took on Jodi bruce in the 1st semi final with Jodie representing the Warriors she played extremely  well coming from 1-0 down to claim a final spot in terrific fashion.Owen Cubit from the Black eagles will also be in the final as he overcame team mate Charlie Stocks in the other semi final also hitting a 180 and the final shall take place on finals night and proves the future of the game is in good hands.

Now to the other end of the scale the very popular Legends tournament which is open to anyone over 50 and it produced one very good tournament as county players,super league,PDC stars and a former world champion all in the mix and it was him John Walton the 2001 world champion that fought off Simon Sawford,Jelger Tuinstra,Tony darlow to make the final and will meet John Lieber of the Panthers who had a good night alsowith wins over Mandy Slack,Angie Brittle and Mick hulley to make the final.

The ladies final will also take place on the 6th of July and it was another cracking event as 8 ladies lined up.Angie the Poweress Brittle was in sensational form on the night not only having a good run in the legend cup but also in the Ladies singles and after getting past team mate Sandra Webster Angie then over came Clair Dunning of the Panthers to set up a final against Anne Lofthouse after she had beaten Sue Edwards and Nicola Warne.It looks to be a cracker on finals night now with a Warrior vs a Wizard it surely will be very anticipated game

Now move to the Merit cup and Panthers leader John Lieber took on Matt Pryor of the Sausages and was quick away with a good start and a win that he then followed by beating Vulcans captain Jim smith.on the other side of the tournament Steve Briggs representing the Black Eagles made it through to the final as he beat Trev Tye who also was representing the Aces after a good win over Paul Brittle who wasa represent of the Warriors.Andy Bradbuy of the Railwaymen was in the semis after good win over Lee Slack.Steve would go on to win the final against John Lieber in a very good competition with nearly all teams represented

Open night was also a terrific competiton which was open to any player who could not participate in any of the above events.and had a good mix of nearly all the teams in the league.It was won by Black Eagle player Greg Beard beating Sausages master player Ben Beardmore.Greg shaped his way to the final with wins over Daz bluer(Wizards),Ryan Goffin(Panthers),Tom Sawford of the Wolves with Ben seeing off Matt Simons of the Wizards,Martin Scott from the Railwaymen and Mick Swift of the Vulcans.

SUPER DAFFS AND BRIGGS FACE TUINSTRA AND TITAN

Knockout season got underway with the Pairs championship and it produced one of the best nights in Thursday night darts for many a year as apart from the terrific tungsten it was all in a great atmosphere.The finalist will be two teams from the Black Eagles as Super Daffs Pete Daffin and Steve Briggs continue there love affair with the Thursday night pairs having previously won three in another league before making it to the inaugural SFL pairs championship and they will meet Jelger tunistra and Greg Beard who came through a tough draw to make it a grand final.Daffs and Briggs beat  Steve Marfleet and Gav Pilling of the Railwaymen in a quality game and then fought hard to beat Micky and Charlie Stocks and then a gallant pairing of Martin Scott and Pete Bramley also of the Railwaymen but you have to feel for Railwaymen Pete Bramley and Martin Scott after putting out the favourites John Boy Walton and Turbo Trevor Burkhill also had to beat Aces crack pairing of Andy Umney and Ian Speed in a half made up of pairings from the top 4 sides.Greg Beard and Jelger Tuinstra was terrific all night and are worthy finalist as they had a tough opener with Wizard pair Michael slack and Ben chivers both young hungry lads who are firmly on there way up.The Black Eagles pair then had too much for Wizards pair of Sie Simons and Anne Lofthouse although they did play very well the two form the Wilton.Jelger and Greg then beat a very brave effort from Super Sue Edwards and Marksman Chris Markham of the Wolves to then take on Panthers pairing of Lee Cushworth and John Lieber before making the final.John Lieber and Lee Cushworth of the Panthers played well all night seeing off Owen Cubitt and Tom Briggs of the Black Eagles and Vulcans pair James Thomas and Mick Swift.

Last 8 pairing was a mammoth performance by Wolves duo Chris Markham and sue Sue sue Edwards as they beat Tom Sawford and Simon Sawford from the same team in the opener of the evening and then into the 3rd round with a good performance to beat Angie Brittle and Jodie Bruce of the Warriors with Angie smashing in a 180 in the game.James Thomas and Mick Swift lost out in the last 8 to Panthers pairing but made it there by beating Sausages pairing of Steve Ewington and Matt Pryor aswell as Ben Beardmore and Shaun Greenfield.Aces Ian Speed and Andy Umney had beaten Nicola Warne and Paul Brittle of the Warriors en route to the last 8 and Micky Stocks and his son Charlie had made it to the last 8 with good wins including a victory over Panthers pair Ryan Goffin and Mick hulley.The Final will take place at the Hillsbrough Club LTD on July 6th.Next week we see a cluster of comps with over 50s,Youth,Captains Cup and Ladies competition all taking place
