Week 11 started at the Newbold in the Sheffield Darts Franchise League as the Aces take on the Cutlers with the home side looking to close in on their rivals in the table.

Aces night got off to a flyer as Wes Deane started with a 15 dart leg to open the night against Matt Pryor who didn't play like he could and Deane took full advantage hitting a 118 checkout and a 17 darter to win to get the Aces up and running.

Next up Trevor Tye doubled the Aces lead as he ran out a 3-0 winner over Stuart Halliwell.

Cutlers were struggling to get into the game and it didn't get any better for them in the third singles as Aces Mick Smith took out legs of 21 and a 15 darter as well as a 155 checkout to make it three for the home side.

To finish the singles, Cutlers Peter Bell earned his team's first leg of the night against Ian Speed with the equaliser as well as a 180 but it was Speed who himself took out a 110 finish to give the Aces the win.

At the start of the pairs Smith and Dave Belfitt went one up against Pryor and Sam Bowers but the Cutlers duo found their range and overturned the first leg loss to win one for Cutler to pull a game back. Daly and Bell then took the lead over Speed and Tye in the final doubles but they couldn't push on and get the winning leg as Speed and Tye won the game 2-1 to give the Aces a 5-1 win on the night.


801 League

Aces completed the night in good fashion as Speed, Deane and Smith secured a 40 points victory over Bell, Bowers and Halliwell.




Black Eagles 5-1 Academicals

Next up was the turn of the defending champions and runaway leaders at the Woodbourne as the Black Eagles defend their 100% record against the Academicals who start the night mid-table.

It was Tom Briggs who got the ball rolling for the Black Eagles as he took out Steve Smith 3-1 to put the Champions in front.

Academicals Thorpe had a debut to forget as he went down to Ryan "The Manic" Goffin who took out legs of 21, 22 and a 17 darter to win it in three to double the Black Eagles lead.

In the third match Adam Warner pulled the Academicals back into the match taking a good scalp in Steve Briggs as Warner registered a maximum as well as taking out a 21 darter to win the game 3-1.

In the last singles "Turbo" Trevor Burkhill powered his way through another debutant Lawrence as he recorded back to back 17 darters on his way to a victory in three.

It was all over as a contest in the first pairs as Burkhill and Tom Briggs defeated Warner and Lewis in two to make it a perfect ten for the Black Eagles.

In the other pairs Steve Briggs and Goffin rounded off the night with a routine 2-0 win over Lawrence and Thorpe to complete a 5-1 win. 



801 League

In the 801 it was Ryan Goffin with father and son Steve and Tom Briggs completing the night with a 91 points victory over Warner, Smith and Lewis. 




Pirates 0-6 Railwaymen

Over at the Wilton it was the struggling Pirates facing the improving Railwaymen who's form saw them shoot up to second place over the past few weeks.

It was Tony Casril who started us off against Geoff Higgs but Casril couldn't get a leg on the board as Higgs hit a max on his way to a win in three to give the Railwaymen the lead.

Next up Steve Brittle made it two as he won Sarah Gregory in straight legs taking out a 21 dart leg along the way.

In the third match Pirates Mandy Slack couldn't do anything to avoid a 3-0 defeat against Alan Jackson who played well throughout.

Gavin Pilling wrapped up the win in the fourth consecutive match the Railwaymen went without conceding over Anne Simmons.

In the pairs it was the Railwaymen who completed the clean sweep as Higgs and Brittle won Anne and Sie Simmons 2-0 and in the other contest Chelsea Brittle hit her first 180 in the league as she and Gavin Pilling won it in two over Lee Slack and Tony Casril which put the Railwaymen up to second in the table.


801 League

Pirates finally had something to cheer about in the triples as Lee Slack, Anne and Sie Simmons grabbed a a tight five point win over Higgs, Jackson and Pilling to finish the night.




Pussies 4-2 Panthers

We're at the Punchbowl next up as the Pussies and the Panthers square up in a battle for the top three.

Pussies hit the ground running in the opener as Steven Caley took out legs of 18, 21 and another 18 darter to secure the victory in the deciding leg over Richard Honeyman.

In the second game Mick Swift made it two for his side as he come away with a 3-0 win over Pat Meeson with an 18 dart leg which secured victory.

Russ Simons hit a 17 dart leg in the first leg of his match with Tom Wright who hit back with an equaliser but after that Simons kept up the pressure which secured him a win in four to pull a match a match back for the Panthers.

It was Panthers Mick Hulley who levelled the match up in the last singles hitting a 21 darter on the way to a deciding leg victory over James "Tank" Thomas.

In the first pairs the Pussies found a way to win as Thomas and Caley won the last leg decider over Keane and Honeyman and in an action packed final match Hulley took out a 170 finish to equalise with partner Simons but then at the start of the decider Swift started with a max which gave him and Wright a platform in which they took advantage of to come out 2-1 winners which gave the Pussies a 4-2 victory overall.


801 League

In the triples it was Thomas, Swift and Wright who nicked the victory by four points over Hulley, Meeson and Keane to complete the night.




Warriors 4-2 Bears

We finish this weeks action at the Midland as the Warriors who started with nine defeats in nine face a Bears team with just one win in the last six games. 

It was the Bears who started stronger of the two teams as Brian Jones took out a 17 and a 21 dart leg on his way to securing the win over Barry Brittle without conceding a leg.

Things got better for the away team as Adam Chadwick hit a 19 darter as he produced some solid darts to win 3-1 over Steve Newton to double the Bears lead. 

Warriors captain Paul Brittle got his team back into the match in a 3-0 win over Tracy Bell in what started a great comeback. 

Ian Webster grabbed a deciding leg victory over Mick Wood to even the scores up going into the pairs with the Warriors on the front foot.

In the battle of the doubles it was the Warriors who were on the front foot as Paul Brittle and Ian Webster completed the comeback as they won it in two over Chadwick and Bell and then the Warriors finally secured their first win of the season at the tenth attempt as Paul Brittle and Steve Newton ran out a 2-0 winner over Brian Jones and Pat Finney to finally end the hoodoo.


801 League

It was the Bears team of Finney, Wood and Antony Dolphin exact a bit of revenge over Paul Brittle, Newton and Webster as they won by 30 points but the night belonged to the Warriors in a good performance worthy of the win.

We start week ten of the Sheffield Darts Franchise League with a Woodbourne derby as eighth placed Bears take on third place Wolves with just five points separating the two teams.

To start the night off Bears, Brian Jones put in a good account of himself as he took on Wolves captain Pete "Super Daff's" Daffin who started by taking out the first leg to take the lead. Jones hit back with a maximum on his way to a 16 darter to level. Daffin responded with a max followed by a 13 dart leg to make it 2-1. In the fourth leg it was Jones who took the match to a decider but unfortunately for him Daffin won it in 21 darts to give the Wolves the lead.

Up next Adam Chadwick started with a 21 dart leg and a 180 against opponent Laura Taylor who was no match as she couldn't really get momentum as Chadwick ran out 3-0 winner.

Wolves Lee Birch got off the mark first in his match with Adam Smith, Smith levelled a one each but then Birch hit his stride and won it in four to put the Wolves back in front.

In the final singles Tracy Bell made the scores 2-2 as she defeated Sue Edwards in four legs of darts.

In a close contest in the first doubles, Bears pairing Chadwick and Jones hit a max in the final leg which gave them the platform to go on and win Edwards and Birch in the decider to give the team a chance of the victory. In the final pairs Wolves managed to save the draw as Daffin who hit his second 180 of the night and Taylor took out Pat Finney and Mick Wood in two to finish the night with a 3-3 draw.


801 League

Bears finally managed the first 801 win as Jones, Smith and captain Cruz grabbed victory over Daffin, Edwards and Taylor by a 182 points margin to complete the night.




Cutlers 5-1 Pirates

We're at the Cutlers next up as the home side who start ninth play tenth placed Pirates with an eight point gap separating the sides.

It was Cutlers who got off to a flying start as Matt Pryor took out Lee Slack in three legs to get the night up and running.

Darren Daly made it two for the Cutlers as his match went to the wire with Michael Slack but Daly managed to nick it in the decider to double the home sides lead.

Cutlers Peter Bell soon made it three as he beat opponent Anne Simmons in four legs to put his side in command. 

In the fourth singles Pirates Sie Simmons couldn't save his side as Andrew Pike won it for the Cutlers in also in four legs to heap more misery on the Pirates.

In the pairs games Pryor and Bowers continued the Cutlers form as they recorded a 2-0 win over Father/Son Lee and Michael Slack. In the other doubles the Pirates grabbed a consolation point as husband and wife duo Anne and Sie Simmons defeated Halliwell and Daly also in two legs but the night belonged to the Cutlers in a 5-1 victory.


801 League

In the 801 game the Pirates found some redemption as winning duo from the previous match Anne and Sie Simmons helped out by Lee Slack won Bowers, Pike and Bell by 148 points.




Panthers 3-3 Academicals

We head back to the Woodbourne for the other match taking place tonight as second placed Panthers face fifth in the table Academicals with three points separating them in the table. 

First up Adam Warner got Academicals off to a flyer as he took out Chris Keane 3-0.

Woodbourne landlord Pat Meeson showed good form hitting a maximum on his way to a 3-0 victory over Ben Tomlinson to equalise for the Panthers. 

In a closely fought third game Russ Simons hit a maximum and a 20 darter but it still wasn't enough as he went down in the deciding leg to Conall Doughty who himself took out a 17 dart leg on his way to a 3-2 win. 

Panthers Mick Hulley finished off the singles by taking out Steve Smith by three legs to nil to tie the scores at two each going into the doubles.

It was the Academicals who gave themselves a chance of victory in the opening pairs game as Warner and Tomlinson won 2-0 over Keane and Meeson. In the final pairs with the result hanging in the balance Panthers Simons and Hulley saved a draw for their team as they won it in two over Doughty and Smith to keep hold of second place in the table.

It was the Academicals who triumphed in the triples as Warner, Doughty and Tomlinson secured a 100 point victory over Meeson, Simons and Hulley.




Railwaymen 5-1 Pussies

Over at the Station sixth placed Railwaymen faced fourth in the table Pussies knowing that a good win for the home side will leapfrog their opponents in the table.

Pete "Perfect" Bramley started well in his game with Mick Swift taking out a 118 finish and an 18 dart leg to go one up but it went all downhill after that as Swift notched up a gear and after overturning the deficit Swift won the match with a 125 finish, 18 darter to give the Pussies the lead. 

Up next Railwaymen levelled through Steve Brittle as he beat Tom Wright in three legs. 

It was Geoff Higgs who put the Railwaymen in front for the first time as he also recorded a 3-0 victory over Glynn Harris. 

In the last singles Pussies James Thomas was looking to equalise but he ran into an in form Gavin Pilling who started with a 15 darter checking out with "Shangai" 120. Thomas did well to bring it back to one a piece but it was Pilling's day as he hit a 17 darter and won it in the fourth leg to make it 3-1 to the home side.

Heading into the pairs the Pussies had it all to do but they couldn't muster a comeback as Harris and Wright went down 2-0 over Alan Jackson and Brittle to secure the win for the Railwaymen going into the last doubles which saw Pilling and Bramley beat Thomas and Swift in the deciding leg to complete a good 5-1 win to put the teams level on points in the table.

Railwaymen completed the night with a close victory in the triples as Bramley, Pilling and Jackson took out Swift, Thomas and Wright by just 40 points.

To round off the week we head to the Midland in the battle between bottom vs top as the Warriors who have lost all the matches this season take on the Black Eagles who have a 100% winning record to defend. 

It was the away side who got off the best start as "The Manic" Ryan Goffin defeated Ian Webster 3-0 hitting a maximum and finishing the game off with an 18 dart leg. 

In the next match Tom Briggs went ahead against Warriors captain Paul Brittle but the captain levelled the scores up but couldn't keep it going as Briggs took the next two to make it 2-0.

Warriors "Hero" Steve Newton had no answer in the third game as veteran Steve Briggs showed true consistency in his throw recording a 3-0 win with every leg finishing in 21 darts with also a 114 finish to add to his tally for the season. 

In the final singles "Turbo" Trevor Burkhill wrapped up the win for the Black Eagles as he also hit max as well as a 20 dart leg to win it in three against Barry Brittle.

Things didn't get any better in the pairs for the Warriors as Burkhill and Steve Briggs won Angela Brittle and Nicola Warne by a 2-0 scoreline. In the final pairs Tom Briggs and Ryan Goffin finished off with a 2-0 win over Paul Brittle and Steve Newton to wrap up a 6-0 win to make it nine wins in nine for the defending champions.

Warriors had some comfort in the triples as they pulled off a shock win as Barry Brittle, Newton and Webster earned a 40 points win over Burkhill, Goffin and Tom Briggs to end the night on a high.

Week nine round up of the Sheffield Darts Franchise League started at the University Arms as the Academicals who claimed a good draw last week at the Station take on a Pussies side who have only lost one in the last five. 

Academicals got off to a perfect start as Adam Warner took out Thomas Wright in three legs of darts to put his side in front. 

In game two Steven Caley hit back well hitting a maximum and a 19 dart leg on his way to a 3-1 win over debut man Joe Hopkins. 

Conall Doughty put the Academicals back in front soon after as he won Glynn Harris in four legs. 

In the final singles Mick Swift put in a good performance as he took out legs of 19 and a good 13 darter plus a 180 on his way to a 3-0 win over Liam Gray to level the scores.

In the pairs Academicals, Smith and Doughty had a tough time of it as they went down in two against James Thomas and Harris to put the Pussies on the brink of victory.

Duo Mick Swift and Steven Caley secured the Pussies victory as they went to the wire against Adam Warner and Tom Wright snatching the win in the decider to make the final score 4-2.

In a close 801 game, Uni team made up of Smith, Doughty and Lewis claimed a bit of revenge as they won Thomas, Harris and Wright by a 14 point margin.

Over at the Newbold it was a battle between two evenly matched teams in the table as the Aces take on the Bears.

It was a flying start for the Aces as Wes Deane hit a maximum and an 18 darter in the first leg of the night against opponent Andy Smith, Deane quickly went 2-0 up and it looked over but Smith fought back taking out legs of 19 and then a 21 to force a fifth leg but Smith couldn't finish off the comeback as Deane rattled in a 17 dart leg to win to put the Aces ahead.

In another close match up Adam Smith took on Trevor Tye, Smith opened with a 21 darter. Tye wasn't put off and took the next two legs to go one away from the win but it was Smith celebrating as he got the score back to two each and then he won the decider to equalise for the Bears.

In the third consecutive five legged match up Bears Brian Jones who went 2-0 up couldn't cross the winning line as Mick Smith took a 19 darter to pull one back then he just went from there as he took out the next two legs to complete the comeback and put the Aces back in front. 

Bears Adam Chadwick played one of his best matches of the season against Ian Speed after taking the lead with a 21 darter, Speed equalised but then it was all Chadwick recording legs of 15 and another 21 to win the match to level the scores at two each.

In a crucial pairs match Aces Deane and Smith did the damage against Pat Finney and Mick Wood winning the contest 2-0 to give the Aces a chance of the win.

It was duo Trevor Tye and Ian Speed who gave the Aces victory in the deciding leg over Chadwick and Tracy Bell to make the final score 4-2.

801 League

Bears went close in the 801 as captain Antonio Cruz, Tracy Bell and Antony Dolphin reached 787 but lost to Smith, Tye and Speed who sealed up a solid night of darts for the Aces.

We're at the Cutlers next up as the home side who are without a win in five take on a Railwaymen team who have only lost just once so far this season. 

Things got off to a good start as the Cutler went 1-0 up as Matt Pryor came from behind to defeat Alan Jackson in four legs of darts.

Cutlers Andrew Pike took the lead over "Perfect" Pete Bramley but just like the other game, Bramley found his range to take out his opponent 3-1.

It was debutant Geoff Higgs for the Railwaymen putting in a solid performance hitting a 17 darter in his very first leg against Darren Daly as he went on to win the game without dropping a leg to put his new side ahead. 

In a topsy turvy final singles game Railwaymen's Gavin Pilling went two up over Peter Bell, Bell responded well bringing the scores level to force a decider but he couldn't finish the job as Pilling secured the win to make the score 3-1 Railwaymen going into the doubles.

It was pairing Pete Bramley and Alan Jackson securing the win for the Railwaymen in two over Sam Bowers and Matt Pryor to continue the Cutlers run without a win. Daly and Bell went ahead in the other doubles game but Pilling and Higgs hit back to win it in three to complete a 5-1 win for the away side.

801 League

Things didn't get any better in the 801 match for the Cutlers as Railwaymen's Jackson, Pilling and Bramley took the victory by 64 points over Pike, Bowers and Lee Hart. 



Panthers 5-1 Warriors

Over at the Woodbourne it was the Panthers looking to get a stronghold on second place face a Warriors side trying to halt a losing streak of eight in a row. 

Richard Honeyman got the Panthers off to a perfect start winning Warriors Paul Brittle by three legs to nil.

In the second game the Warriors equalised when Steve "Hero" Newton took out Coyle without conceding a leg.

Panthers Mick Hulley put his side back in front in a cool display wrapping up a 3-0 win over Barry Brittle.

On the last singles Warriors Nicola Warne took the lead against opponent Russ Simons but she couldn't keep up the pressure as Simons turned it around to win it in four.

Simons and Warne went head to head again straight after in the pairs and Simons partner Chris Keane helped them secure a 2-0 win over Angela Brittle and team-mate Warne. 

It was Coyle and Honeyman who wrapped up a 5-1 for the Panthers as they won it in two against Ian Webster and Barry Brittle.

In the final match of the week the top two went head to head in a Woodbourne derby as the Wolves entertained leaders Black Eagles who knew a win would put them clear of the chasing pack.

Up first it was Wolves, Bower facing Jelger Tuinstra who started well taking the first leg and then hitting a 21 darter (115 finish) which made it two. Bower did well to take out an 18 dart leg to pull it back to 2-1 but Tuinstra won it in the fourth in 16 darts to put the leaders ahead.

In a quality second game Wolves captain "Super Daff's" Pete Daffin faced Steve Briggs in a match to remember as Daffin started with an 18 dart leg and a 16 darter with two maximums thrown in to go 2-0 up, Briggs responded with an 18 darter to pull a leg back but it was Daffin who secured the win with another 16 dart leg to draw his side level.

Steve Briggs son Tom toed the oche next up as he made light work of Laura Taylor winning his match in without dropping a leg to make it 2-1 to the leaders.

In the fourth and final singles Wolves Lee Birch took the lead over "The Manic" Ryan Goffin but Goffin showed his class to win it in four ending with legs of 21 and 20 to make it 3-1 Black Eagles.

It was victory for the defending champions after the first pairs as Trevor Burkhill and Tom Briggs won it in two legs over Bower and Birch to secure the win with one to spare.

To finish the doubles Goffin and Tuinstra also won their match 2-0 over Daffin and Taylor to give the Black Eagles a convincing 5-1 victory to consolidate top spot.

Black Eagles Tom Briggs, Trevor Burkhill and Steve Briggs completed the nights action with victory over Daffin, Birch and Taylor by a tight 16 points.
