Week 11 started at the Newbold in the Sheffield Darts Franchise League as the Aces take on the Cutlers with the home side looking to close in on their rivals in the table.

Aces night got off to a flyer as Wes Deane started with a 15 dart leg to open the night against Matt Pryor who didn't play like he could and Deane took full advantage hitting a 118 checkout and a 17 darter to win to get the Aces up and running.

Next up Trevor Tye doubled the Aces lead as he ran out a 3-0 winner over Stuart Halliwell.

Cutlers were struggling to get into the game and it didn't get any better for them in the third singles as Aces Mick Smith took out legs of 21 and a 15 darter as well as a 155 checkout to make it three for the home side.

To finish the singles, Cutlers Peter Bell earned his team's first leg of the night against Ian Speed with the equaliser as well as a 180 but it was Speed who himself took out a 110 finish to give the Aces the win.

At the start of the pairs Smith and Dave Belfitt went one up against Pryor and Sam Bowers but the Cutlers duo found their range and overturned the first leg loss to win one for Cutler to pull a game back. Daly and Bell then took the lead over Speed and Tye in the final doubles but they couldn't push on and get the winning leg as Speed and Tye won the game 2-1 to give the Aces a 5-1 win on the night.


801 League
Ian Speed/Wes Deane/Mick Smith 801-761 Peter Bell/Sam Bowers/Stuart Halliwell

Aces completed the night in good fashion as Speed, Deane and Smith secured a 40 points victory over Bell, Bowers and Halliwell.




Black Eagles 5-1 Academicals 


SINGLES

Steve Briggs 1-3 Adam Warner
Trevor Burkhill 3-0 B. Lawrence 

Next up was the turn of the defending champions and runaway leaders at the Woodbourne as the Black Eagles defend their 100% record against the Academicals who start the night mid-table.

It was Tom Briggs who got the ball rolling for the Black Eagles as he took out Steve Smith 3-1 to put the Champions in front.

Academicals Thorpe had a debut to forget as he went down to Ryan "The Manic" Goffin who took out legs of 21, 22 and a 17 darter to win it in three to double the Black Eagles lead.

In the third match Adam Warner pulled the Academicals back into the match taking a good scalp in Steve Briggs as Warner registered a maximum as well as taking out a 21 darter to win the game 3-1.

In the last singles "Turbo" Trevor Burkhill powered his way through another debutant Lawrence as he recorded back to back 17 darters on his way to a victory in three.

It was all over as a contest in the first pairs as Burkhill and Tom Briggs defeated Warner and Lewis in two to make it a perfect ten for the Black Eagles.

In the other pairs Steve Briggs and Goffin rounded off the night with a routine 2-0 win over Lawrence and Thorpe to complete a 5-1 win. 



801 League

In the 801 it was Ryan Goffin with father and son Steve and Tom Briggs completing the night with a 91 points victory over Warner, Smith and Lewis. 




Pirates 0-6 Railwaymen

Over at the Wilton it was the struggling Pirates facing the improving Railwaymen who's form saw them shoot up to second place over the past few weeks.

It was Tony Casril who started us off against Geoff Higgs but Casril couldn't get a leg on the board as Higgs hit a max on his way to a win in three to give the Railwaymen the lead.

Next up Steve Brittle made it two as he won Sarah Gregory in straight legs taking out a 21 dart leg along the way.

In the third match Pirates Mandy Slack couldn't do anything to avoid a 3-0 defeat against Alan Jackson who played well throughout.

Gavin Pilling wrapped up the win in the fourth consecutive match the Railwaymen went without conceding over Anne Simmons.

In the pairs it was the Railwaymen who completed the clean sweep as Higgs and Brittle won Anne and Sie Simmons 2-0 and in the other contest Chelsea Brittle hit her first 180 in the league as she and Gavin Pilling won it in two over Lee Slack and Tony Casril which put the Railwaymen up to second in the table.


801 League

Pirates finally had something to cheer about in the triples as Lee Slack, Anne and Sie Simmons grabbed a a tight five point win over Higgs, Jackson and Pilling to finish the night.




Pussies 4-2 Panthers

James Thomas 2-3 Mick Hulley

We're at the Punchbowl next up as the Pussies and the Panthers square up in a battle for the top three.

Pussies hit the ground running in the opener as Steven Caley took out legs of 18, 21 and another 18 darter to secure the victory in the deciding leg over Richard Honeyman.

In the second game Mick Swift made it two for his side as he come away with a 3-0 win over Pat Meeson with an 18 dart leg which secured victory.

Russ Simons hit a 17 dart leg in the first leg of his match with Tom Wright who hit back with an equaliser but after that Simons kept up the pressure which secured him a win in four to pull a match a match back for the Panthers.

It was Panthers Mick Hulley who levelled the match up in the last singles hitting a 21 darter on the way to a deciding leg victory over James "Tank" Thomas.

In the first pairs the Pussies found a way to win as Thomas and Caley won the last leg decider over Keane and Honeyman and in an action packed final match Hulley took out a 170 finish to equalise with partner Simons but then at the start of the decider Swift started with a max which gave him and Wright a platform in which they took advantage of to come out 2-1 winners which gave the Pussies a 4-2 victory overall.


801 League

In the triples it was Thomas, Swift and Wright who nicked the victory by four points over Hulley, Meeson and Keane to complete the night.




Warriors 4-2 Bears

We finish this weeks action at the Midland as the Warriors who started with nine defeats in nine face a Bears team with just one win in the last six games. 

It was the Bears who started stronger of the two teams as Brian Jones took out a 17 and a 21 dart leg on his way to securing the win over Barry Brittle without conceding a leg.

Things got better for the away team as Adam Chadwick hit a 19 darter as he produced some solid darts to win 3-1 over Steve Newton to double the Bears lead. 

Warriors captain Paul Brittle got his team back into the match in a 3-0 win over Tracy Bell in what started a great comeback. 

Ian Webster grabbed a deciding leg victory over Mick Wood to even the scores up going into the pairs with the Warriors on the front foot.

In the battle of the doubles it was the Warriors who were on the front foot as Paul Brittle and Ian Webster completed the comeback as they won it in two over Chadwick and Bell and then the Warriors finally secured their first win of the season at the tenth attempt as Paul Brittle and Steve Newton ran out a 2-0 winner over Brian Jones and Pat Finney to finally end the hoodoo.


801 League

It was the Bears team of Finney, Wood and Antony Dolphin exact a bit of revenge over Paul Brittle, Newton and Webster as they won by 30 points but the night belonged to the Warriors in a good performance worthy of the win.
