Wes Deane 3-0 Barry Brittle
Andy Umney 3-0 Paul Brittle
Mick Smith 3-0 Ian Webster
Trevor Tye 3-0 Jodie Bruce
Ian Speed 2-3 Steve Newton

Up at the Newbold we start the weeks action with the Aces who were on a massive high after defeating the Black Eagles last time out entertain the Warriors who are bottom of the table with 12 consecutive defeats.

We start with Aces Simon Birkett who made light work of Sandra Webster after breaking her throw with a 21 darter and a 104 finish to start. Birkett went on a rout afterwards winning the match with a 16 dart leg to put the Aces ahead.

In the second game, Warriors Barry Brittle was looking to level against Wes Deane but things didn't go to plan as Deane started well taking out a 20 dart leg to take the lead, Brittle had the throw in the next leg but couldn't hit the big scores and Deane took advantage of that by making it two in 21 darts and winning the match in the next leg with a 114 checkout, 18 darter to double the Aces lead.

"The Undertaker" Paul Brittle needed to raise the Warriors up to stay in the game as he faced Andy Umney. It was Brittle to start to try and gain a lead but it wasn't going to be as Umney reeled off the first couple of legs to take command of the game. "The Undertaker" had to hold throw in the third leg but couldn't manage it as Umney won it in three to make the score 3-0 at the halfway stage.
Aces Mick Smith won the match for his team in game four easily dispatching Ian Webster in straight legs.

Warriors Jodie Bruce had no luck in her match against Trevor Tye as Tye continued the run once again without dropping a leg to make it five in five for the Aces.

In the final match of the night with a chance for the Aces to complete the whitewash Ian Speed took on Steve Newton in a good close match between the two players. It was Speed to start the match and he took the opening leg well. Newton responded with an equaliser then breaking throw in the third leg to go 2-1 up and throw for the match. In the fourth leg Newton was favourite to win it in this leg but Speed hit back to equalise and throw for the match himself. In the deciding leg it was Newton who won it against the throw  to get the Warriors a point on the board but it's now 13 defeats in a row for them.

Panthers 4-2 Wades
Russ Simons 3-1 Stephen Naisbitt
John Schultz 1-3 Tom Sawford
Mick Hulley 3-0 Simon Denton
Mick Wood 1-3 Antonio Cruz
Ryan Goffin 3-2 Lee Siddle
Richard Brown 3-0 Simon Sawford

We head to the Woodbourne next for the derby game between two teams who are neck and neck in the table as fifth placed Panthers take on fourth position Wades.

The match started with Wades captain Stephen Naisbitt pitting himself against Russ Simons with the captain having the darts he didn't start well as Simons quickly broke his throw and held his own in the second to take control of the match, Naisbitt responded like a captain by taking out a 21 darter to bring it back to 2-1 but it was too much of him to ask for a comeback as Simons won it in the next leg to give the Panthers the lead.

Up next Panthers John Schultz played "Shooter" Tom Sawford and it was the youngster Sawford who kicked off with a break of throw with a 19 darter. Schultz broke straight back to level but then it was all Sawford as he won it in four to equalise for the Wades.

In the third match Panthers Mick Hulley started with an 18 darter against the darts in his match with Simon Denton. He then followed it up with a hold of throw to make it two. Denton needed to hold in the third to stay in the game but Hulley finished him off to make the score 2-1 Panthers.

In an even match-up between Wades Antonio Cruz and Mick Wood, It was Cruz who started the match better with a break and a hold of throw to go 2-0 up. In the third leg, Wood gave himself a chance by holding for the first time in the match to reduce the arrears but it was Cruz celebrating the win in the fourth leg and a 106 high finish to level the scores again with two to play.

The fifth game on saw Panthers captain Ryan"The Manic" Goffin play a five leg thriller with Lee Siddle in a high scoring game. It was Siddle to start but it was Goffin who took off with a 21 darter to break early and after holding his throw in the next leg it looked over, but Siddle found a response after taking out a 20 dart leg and a fantastic 130 checkout it was two a piece and heading into a deciding leg with Siddle throwing it looked like his to lose as captain Goffin produced a 21 dart leg and a 110 finish to win it for the Panthers and put his team in control going into the final match.

It was a deciding match between Wades Simon Sawford who was looking for the draw taking on Richard Brown who needed to win it to win the game for the Panthers. It was Brown who had the throw to start and he started well holding to go one up. Brown then went on to break Sawford to double his lead and throw for the win in which he produced his best darts after hitting a 180 he finished off the night with a 20 darter to secure the victory for the Panthers which closed the gap between them and their opponents in the table.

Pirates 3-3 Academicals

Lee Slack 3-0 Ben Tomlinson
Sie Simmons 3-1 Jack Lewis
Martin Baugh 1-3 Ritesh Deo
Simon Chivers 0-3 Tim Close
Anne Lofthouse 0-3 Conall Doughty
Michael Slack 3-2 Tom Hogg

Over the Players Bar two more team who are close in the table battle it out as ninth placed Players face eighth in the table Academicals with just 3 points separating the two teams.

It was Pirates Lee Slack who got us underway and he was in good form against Ben Tomlinson as he ran out a comfortable 3-0 winner to put the Pirates ahead.

Up next Academicals Jack Lewis was looking to equalise in his match with Sie Simmons, both players started well managing to hold each throw which made the legs 1-1, but Simmons then upped the ante and ran away with the win in four to make it two for the Pirates.

It was looking glum for the Uni lads after the second game with the Pirates well on top but Ritesh Deo started the comeback trail against Martin Baugh. Deo took the opening leg on throw. Baugh equalised with a 115 finish. In the third leg Deo was back in front on throw and sensing the finishing line. Baugh had the darts in the fourth leg to stay in the match but Ritesh won it with a 21 dart leg to pull it back to 2-1.

In the fourth match of the night Pirates Simon Chivers was searching for the Pirates third as he played Tim Close. Chivers had the throw but couldn't get his arm going as Close took the lead. In the second leg it was Close who held his own throw to put him a leg away in which he secured in good fashion to make the score two each.

Pirates felt they were throwing the match away after the Academicals comeback and things didn't get any better as Anne Lofthouse struggled in her match with Conall Doughty. It was Doughty to start and held well to go in front. Lofthouse threw in the next leg to level up but Doughty fired in a 20 darter to break then he took out the third leg to complete the comeback and give the Uni team a chance of victory in the deciding match.

In a game of two halves it went down to the wire as the finale saw Tom Hogg looking to win it for the Uni face Michal Slack who needed to rescue the Pirates and save a draw. Hogg raced in front after taking the opening two legs and it looked all over for Slack and the Pirates but Slack dug in and held throw in the third leg to stay in the match and then broke Hogg in the fourth to force a final leg shootout to end the night. Slack started the fifth leg well which was the catalyst to secure victory and complete the comeback for himself and rescue a well earned draw for the Pirates.

Steven Caley 2-3 Steve Ewington
Phil Lambert 3-1 Matt Pryor

James Thomas 3-2 Ben Dulley

At Frecheville we had second bottom Vulcans face mid-table Hawks with both teams needing to win to close the gap on the team's above.

It was Hawks Laura Taylor to start as she faced S. Walters. Taylor threw well enough throughout the match to earn herself a convincing three leg victory to put the Hawks in front.

Up next was Steven Caley looking to equalise for the Vulcans as he played Steve Ewington in a five leg thriller, Caley was in fine form in the early part of the game where he took a 2-0 lead with a 21 and an 18 dart leg and a 180 thrown in for good measure, then the comeback started as Caley just couldn't get over the finishing line as Ewington hit back with a 17 darter against throw then after holding in the fourth leg it went to a decider. In the deciding leg Caley was still favourite with the throw but he just couldn't finish his opponent off as it was Ewington who completed the comeback and won the match to double the Hawks lead and leaving Vulcans with it all to do.
In the third match with the Vulcans two behind Phil Lambert needed to get his team up and running before it was too late as he faced Matt Pryor. It was Pryor who got the match underway and he comfortably held throw to go one up. Lambert hit straight back in the next leg to level then the turning point happened in the third leg on the Pryor throw as Lambert broke and threw for the match which he took out the very next leg to seal the win to bring the Vulcans back in the match.

Tom Wright was up next representing the Vulcans and he got off to a good start in his match with Paul Moore taking the first leg but Moore got into his stride and after equalising, Moore then went on to break throw with a 17 darter to take the lead and throw for the match in which Moore produced a 19 dart leg to win it in the fourth to make it 3-1 Hawks.

Vulcans needed to win the last two matches to rescue a draw as Alex Sproston faced Peter Bell who was looking to finish it it there and then for the Hawks and Bell didn't disappoint as he started with a hold of throw, then Bell put his foot on the gas and broke Sproston with an 18 darter and throw for the match in the third leg and Bell won the match convincingly to give the Hawks the win with one to go.

In the last match of the night it was a good battle between Hawks Ben Dulley and "Tank" James Thomas. Dulley started well hitting a 17 dart leg against the throw then following it with a hold to make it two and looked at ease, Thomas fought back though after taking the third leg, he then broke back in the fourth to force a decider in the final leg of the night in which "Tank" had the darts and made it count in style as he took out a 113 finish and a 21 darter to finish off the night but the Hawks won it 4-2.

Wolves 1-5 Railwaymen

Pete Daffin 3-1 Steve Brittle
Graham Waller 0-3 Pete Bramley
Sue Edwards 0-3 Gavin Pilling
Dave Cliffe 0-3 Tom Gurran
Bye 0-3 Mark Gurran
Bye 0-3 Martin Scott

To round off the week we head back to the Woodbourne where the Wolves who turned up short of players and haven't won in three face a Railwaymen side who are second and are 8 points behind the leaders but with a game in hand so they're still in with a good shout of the title with a win tonight.

Up first Wolves captain Pete Daffin knew he needed to get his team off to a good start with them already been two down as he played Steve Brittle. "Super Daff's" started well by breaking throw to take the lead. Daffin then took the second leg to double his lead. Brittle managed a leg back in the third but captain Daffin won it in four to get his team off the mark.

Up next "Perfect" Pete Bramley put in a good performance in his match with Graham Waller. Bramley set off with a break of throw then he followed it up with a maximum and a 21 darter to make it two. Waller had the throw in the third leg for a chance to stay in the game but it was Bramley who secured the win with his best leg of 18 darts to technically guarantee at least a draw for the Railwaymen.

It was up to Sue Edwards to keep the Wolves in with a glimmer of hope as she faced Gavin Pilling, It was Pilling to start and he threw well to take the first leg. He then continued in that vain for the rest of the match after breaking Edwards to go two up, Pilling won it with a 21 dart leg without braking sweat to win it for the Railwaymen with one to play.

It was all finished after three matches as Railwaymen's "Inferno" Tom Gurran stepped up in game four against Dave Cliffe. It was Cliffe to start but couldn't keep up with Gurran as the youngster quickly broke to gain the advantage. "The Inferno" then held his own in the next leg to make it two and leaving Cliffe with it all to do. In what was the final leg of the night Gurran finished off his opponent on Cliffe's throw to give the Railwaymen a 5-1 win to close the gap on the leaders to just three points.
