Aces 3-3 Wolves

SINGLES
Wes Deane 3-1 Lee Birch

We start week three at the Newbold Aces as the hosts played the Wolves in a close fought encounter, Wes Deane opened the night with a 21 and a 16 dart leg on his way to a 3-1 win over Lee Birch to make it a solid start for the Aces. 

Wolves captain Pete Daffin quickly levelled the scores over Ian Speed as "Super Daff's" played some solid darts taking out a 17, 20 and a 15 dart finish to win the match and equalise.

Up next was Mick Smith against Laura Taylor in a match which saw Smith kick off with a 17 darter then Smith doubled his lead soon after, then Taylor took a leg in the third but Smith won it in the fourth to put the Aces back in front. 

In the final singles game Trevor Tye started well for the Aces as he went one up over John Lieber, Lieber then found his range and after equalising it was Lieber who took control and ran out with a 3-1 victory to make it two each.

As the pairs started with the scores level between the two sides. Wolves captain paired himself alongside Laura Taylor but the two struggled as the pairing of Wes Deane and Trevor Tye didn't drop a leg to which gave the Aces a chance of victory going into the other pairs. 


In the next pairs with the scoreline on a knife edge Mick Smith and Ian Speed had a chance to win it for the home side but they found John Lieber and Birch in good form and they rescued a draw for the Wolves. 


801 League

In the 801 match the trio of Speed, Smith and Tye defeated Daffin, Lieber and Birch by a 66 points scoreline to finish off the night.



Bears 0-6 Panthers

SINGLES

Tracy Bell 0-3 Richard Brown 
Mick Wood 0-3 Mick Hulley

Over at the Woodbourne it was the Bears who struggled to get a grip on the game as they faced an in form Panthers in the clash of the Woody teams as Panthers Russ Simons kicked off with a 3-0 win over Adam Smith. 

Richard Honeyman and Brian Jones both hit 19 dart legs as they squared up against each other but it was Honeyman who ran out a 3-1 winner to put the Panthers two up. 

Things went from bad to worse for the Bears as Tracy Bell took on Richard Brown who hit a 19 darter in his way to a three leg win.

In the fourth game on it was the battle of the Mick's as Panthers Hulley defeated Wood in another 3-0 scoreline winning the match with an 18 darter to give the Panthers an early win with still the pairs and triples to play.

As the doubles kicked off the Bears team were in disarray only taking one leg in four games and it didn't get any better for them in the doubles as the Richard duo Honeyman and Brown defeated father and son Adam and Andy Smith by a 2-0 scoreline. 

To wrap up the pairs, Panthers Mick Hulley and Russ Simons defeated Pat Finney and Tracy Bell by two games to one to complete the Panthers whitewash.


801 League
Antonio Cruz/Mick Wood/Pat Finney 677-801 Richard Brown/Richard Honeyman/Russ Simons

In the 801 triples, the Bears were looking for a consolation as captain Antonio Cruz put himself alongside Mick Wood and Pat Finney in a contest with Richard's Honeyman and Brown who had Russ Simons alongside them. Bears team couldn't get a grip on the game as the Panthers trio completed the night with a full house of wins taking the match by a 124 point scoreline.



Black Eagles 6-0 Railwaymen

SINGLES

John Walton 3-0 Gavin Pilling 

Over at the other side of the Woodbourne, Black Eagles took on the Railwaymen with the Champions dominating from the off as Jelger Tuinstra defeated Mark Howell 3-1 hitting a 19 and an 18 darter to win it. 

Up next "Turbo" Trevor Burkhill took out a 19 and a 17 dart leg on his way to a 3-0 win over Steve Brittle to double the Black Eagles lead.

Alan Jackson for the Railwaymen was up against Steve Briggs next but he found it tough as Briggs hit an 18 and then a 17 darter for the victory to make it three in three for the hie side.

It was the former World Champion John Walton fourth on against Gavin Pilling and Walton didn't let the team down as he recorded legs of 19, 18 and 17 darters to put Pilling to the sword in a 3-0 rout to make it four for the defending Champions.

In the pairs it was Tuinstra and Cubitt who didn't put a foot wrong in their game against Howell and Jackson as their recorded a 2-0 win.

Railwaymen's Steve Brittle and Pilling managed a leg over John Walton and Steve Brigs but couldn't finish them off as they went down 2-1 to round off a 6-0 scoreline for the home side.


801 League
Owen Cubitt/Ryan Goffin/Tom Briggs 801-766 Steve Brittle/Alan Jackson/Gavin Pilling 

As the triples game got underway the Railwaymen trio of Steve Brittle, Alan Jackson and Gavin Pilling were looking to get something out of the match against Owen Cubitt, Ryan Goffin and Tom Briggs and they came quite close but the Black Eagles trio took the game by 35 points in the end to complete a clean sweep. 



Pirates 5-1 Warriors

SINGLES

Gareth Chivers 3-2 Ian Webster

Over at the Wilton, Pirates took on the Warriors with both teams searching for their first win of the season. Pirates Casril got off to a perfect start as he defeated captain Paul Brittle 3-0.

Anne Simmons continued where Casril left off as she too took a good scalp defeating Nicola Warne by the same 3-0 scoreline.

Warriors were on the ropes early after two early losses but "Hero" Steve Newton pulled a game back for them winning Lee Slack by three legs to one.

In game four, Ian Webster was very close to levelling the scores up but he only went down in the final leg against Gareth Chivers who scraped over the line to make it 3-1 to the Pirates after the singles.

You could've forgiven the Warriors not to have felt a bit deflated after the last singles game, losing it like they did made a big difference to the scoreline, it didn't get any better for them in the pairs as Steve Newton and Nicola Warne lost out to husband/wife Anne and Sie Simmons by two legs to nil.

Another married couple Paul and Angela Brittle paired up to play Gareth Chivers and Lee Slack. Pirates duo took the lead but the Brittles hit back to level but unfortunately they couldn't keep the momentum going and went down 2-1 which gave the Pirates a 5-1 victory for their first win of the season.


801 League

In the 3 v 3 match it was the Warriors trio of Angela Brittle, Sandra Webster and Barry Brittle celebrating as they won by a 5 point margin over Mandy Slack, S. Gregory and Xenia Chivers to end the night. 



Cutlers 3-3 Academicals

SINGLES

Darren Daly 3-0 Ben Tomlinson
Lee Hart 0-3 Jack Lewis
Cutlers W/O

In the final game of week three in the Franchise Darts League we head to the Cutler who hosted there first ever League game against the Academicals. Things didn't get off to the best of starts for the hosts as Matt Pryor went down to Adam Warner 3-0. Darren Daly hit a 19 dart leg for the Cutlers to open his game against Ben Tomlinson who had no reply as Daly won by the same 3-0 scoreline to level. In the final singles game Cutlers Lee Hart went down for the third consecutive 3-0 result against Jack Lewis which in theory levelled the scores up due to the Academicals fielding a weakened side.

Onto the pairs where only one match took place due to the Academicals being short but it was a solid victory for them as Adam Warner and Jack Lewis defeated Andrew Pike and Stuart Halliwell to rescue an unlikely draw despite conceding two games without playing. 


801 League

To top off a remarkable performance from the Uni side, Lewis, Warner and Tomlinson win the 801 game over Sam Bowers, Hart and Pryor by 90 points to round off a great night for the team.
