We head into week 5 at the Newbold as the Aces with two victories and a draw to their name take on an Academicals team who celebrated their first win of the season last week and are looking to build on that score. 

It didn't get off to the best of starts for the Uni side although they did take the lead as Conall Doughty opened the scoring against Wes Deane but then Deane warmed up and took out two 21 darters and then a 14 darter to win it in four which put the Aces in front.

Up next it was Trevor Tye who made to two the the Aces as he ran out a 3-0 winner over Ste Smith. 

Things were looking good for the Aces but that all stopped in game three as the Academicals fought back, first Tim Close defeated Dave Belfitt by three legs to nil

In the last singles it was Adam Warner who equalised as he beat Ian Speed in a 3-1 scoreline going into the pairs.

As the team were tied the first pairs game were crucial as Doughty and Close took the lead over Deane and Tye. Aces duo equalled the scores up which set a decider on who will put their team in charge and it was the Doughty/Close partnership that won the day to give the Academicals a chance of the win.

In the other pairs match Warner and Smith secured the Uni victory taking out Belfitt and Speed by two legs to nil to wrap up a 4-2 victory.

It was the Academicals who took the 801 win in a close call through Warner, Close and Doughty who defeated Belfitt, Tye and Speed by 32 points.

Over at the Woodbourne it was the Bears in action who've started the season in mixed form after two wins and two defeats host a Railwaymen side who are without a win in the three games they've played so far. 

Up first Railwaymen's "Perfect" Pete Bramley got the Railwaymen off to a flyer recording a 3-0 victory over Adam Chadwick to take the lead.

Next up was the first five leg game of the night as Bears, Brian Jones and Steve Brittle went head to head in a match which saw Jones always having the advantage as he recording a maximum just as Steve Brittle took out a 19 dart leg of his own to force the decider but that's when Jones turned it up hitting a 177 to leave himself on 40 then finishing off tops in one dart and finish in 17 darts to level the scores up.

In game three another match that went the distance as Bears Andy Smith took the lead over Alan Dickson who in turn replied in kind to go one leg away from victory, Smith took out a 21 darter to level again at two each but it was Dickson's night as he finished in the same 21 darts which to put the travelling side back in front. 

Bears Andy Smith didn't pull my punches in the next game as he defeated Gavin Pilling without conceding a leg to make the score two each.

As the pairs got underway both teams were locked together but it was the Railwaymen who grabbed the advantage as Steve Brittle and Pete Bramley won Tracy Bell and Pat Finney in the deciding leg to put the team one away from victory in which they achieved in the next pairs as Pilling and Jackson also won by a 2-1 scoreline against Jones and Mick Wood to give the Railwaymen their first win of the season.

It was the Railwaymen who finished off the night as Pilling, Bramley and Jackson grabbed the win over Bears captain Antonio Cruz, Bell and Wood by a 114 points margin.

We head to the Cutlers next up as the home side who slumped to their first defeat last time out face a Panthers team who start short but are on the back of a whitewash win over the Bears in their last outing. 

Woodbourne landlord started us off well as he found good form taking out Andrew Pike without conceding to take the lead.

Next up Cutlers Stuart Halliwell tried all he could over Mick Hulley to level but couldn't manage it as Hulley won the decider to make it two.

In another decider Darren Daly won his game over Richard Brown which brought the scores level due to not playing the final singles.

In the only doubles game tonight Panthers still had fight in them as Meeson and Hulley rescued a well earned draw for the team as they win in two against Lee Hart and Matt Pryor.

In the triples match we saw a tight affair but it was Bell, Bowers and Pryor just edging it by four points over team Brown, Meeson and Hulley to finish off the night.

We're at the Players Bar in our next game as Pirates with just one win so far to their name took on the Pussays who achieved their maiden win last week.

Pussays flew out of the blocks when "Tank" James Thomas defeated Tony Casril by three legs to nil.

Sie Simmons hit a 20 dart leg on his way to taking out Alex Sproston in the decider to equalise for the Pirates.

It went all the Pussays way after that as Glynn Harris won opponent Anne Simmons in three to put his team back in front.

In the fourth game Mick Swift hit a 20 darter as he too ran out a 3-0 victor over Gareth Chivers to make the score 3-1 Pussays.

It was in the pairs where the Pussays won it as Thomas and Harris won Chivers and Slack 2-0 to wrap it up early, in the next pairs husband and wife  Sie and Anne Simmons managed to take the lead over Wright and Swift but they just didn't do enough to finish them off as they went down in the decider which gave the Pussays a 5-1 win.

To finish off the night trio Wright, Harris and Sproston dominated the game for the Pussays over Sarah Gregory, Lee and Mandy Slack by a 255 point scoreline to get that 801 win.

In the final game at the week we're back at the Woodbourne as the Wolves with two wins and a draw take on the Warriors still searching for the first win but came close last time out. 

It was the two captains head to head to start the night off as "Super Daff's" Pete Daffin took on Paul "The Undertaker" Brittle. It was Brittle's throw but he came up against an in form Daffin as he recorded legs of 17. 20 and 21 darts as well as a 180 thrown in for good measure to give Brittle no chance as the Wolves went one up.

Up next for the Warriors were Steve "Hero" Newton as he looked to equalise against Laura Taylor but he didn't start well as Taylor took the lead but as Newton got his eye in he ran out a 3-1 winner to equalise.

Wolves Lee Birch put his side backs front in the third game despite going behind to Nicola Warne. Birch came back to win 3-1 to put the Wolves back in front.

In the final singles game John Lieber fought off Ian Webster who played well in patches but went down to a third consecutive 3-1 scoreline to give the home side a 3-1 lead.

As the pairs got underway with the Wolves only needing one of the win it was up to Nicola Warne and Steve Newton to save the Warriors but to no avail as captain Pete Daffin and Laura Taylor took a 2-0 victory to win it for the Wolves with a game to spare. In the other pairs Lieber and Birch hit a max as they won the Brittle father and son also by a 2-0 scoreline to wrap up a 5-1 win to secure Wolves third win of the season.

Week four of the Red Dragon Darts Franchise League started at the Uni Arms as the Academicals who started off the season with a defeat and a draw take on the Pirates who celebrated a victory for the first time this season last time out. 

It was the Academicals who drew first blood as Conall Doughty ran out a 3-0 winner over Lee Slack to get the night up and running.

Pirates hit straight back in the second game as Fletcher took out a 21 darter on his way to another 3-0 win over opponent Thomas Wright to even the scores up.

In the third game of the night Adam Warner defeated Sie Simmons for a third consecutive 3-0 result taking out a 17 dart leg to win the match which put the home side back in front. 

Anne Simmons started well against Jack Lewis winning the opening two legs but unfortunately for her she ran out of steam as Lewis pegged her back to 2-2 and then in the deciding leg Lewis took out an 18 dart leg to complete the comeback which put breathing space between the two teams after the singles.

In the pairs, two closely fought matches took place as the Pirates pair Lee Slack and Fletcher took the early advantage over Doughty and Gray but it didn't last long as the Academicals duo over-turned the deficit which gave the team the victory with one to spare.

Adam Warner and Jordan took the lead in the next doubles against Sie and Anne Simmons but the Simmons partnership equalised to force a deciding leg in which the Uni lads won to round off a good 5-1 win for the team.

801 League

After the Academicals achieved the win it was the turn of the 801 game as the Pirates earned a bit of revenge in a close battle to the finish as Fletcher, Lee and Mandy Slack got the win over Doughty, Warner and Lewis by just four points.

Over at the Woodbourne for the third week running a Woodbourne derby took place as the Black Eagles who've only dropped one game so far took on the Bears who after winning the opening two games went down to heavy defeat last time out.

Defending Champions Black Eagles opened with Micky Stocks in fine form starting out with a 16 darter to take the lead over Pat Finney, Stocks took the second leg to double his lead and then in the third Stocks hit two maximums to set himself up for a 13 dart finish which he hit in a good performance to put the Black Eagles ahead. 

Up next was the Bears, Brian Jones up against youngster Charlie Stocks, Jones took out a 17 dart leg to lead. Stocks replied in the next leg to level but Jones then stepped it up and ran out a 3-1 winner to level the scores. 

In the third singles "The Manic" Ryan Goffin took the lead with an 18 dart leg against Adam Chadwick. Goffin went two up and looked at ease, Chadwick grabbed a leg back in the third but Goffin kept his composure to win it in four to put his side back in front. 

Bears weren't going to lie down in the fourth game as Adam Smith ran out a 3-0 winner over Marie Tuinstra taking out a 19 dart leg to win it which made the scores 2-2 going into the pairs.

It was all up for grabs as the pairs got underway as duo Jelger Tuinstra and Micky Stocks faced Adam Chadwick and Adam Smith and it was the experienced duo of Tuinstra and Stocks winning it in two to end the hopes of a win for the Bears, 

In the next doubles with the Bears still in with a chance of a draw Tracy Bell and Mick Wood faced Trevor Burkhill and Tom Briggs but it was quick to see that Burkhill and Briggs were far too good for the Bears partnership and they ran out with abother 2-0 win to give the defending Champions a 4-2 win.

After a good performance from the Bears achieving two points they go into the 801 game with a chance as Adam Smith, Tracy Bell and Brian Jones stepped up to faced Steve and Tom Briggs as well as Trevor Burkhill, the Black Eagles trio found form and grabbed the win by 127 points to round off the night.

We head to the Punchbowl next as the Pusssies who've started the season with back to back defeats took on a Cutlers side who are undefeated after their two games. 

We start with the Pussies Mick Swift laying down a marker for the rest of he night as he put on a good show taking out Matt Pryor without conceding a leg to get the Pussies up and running for the night. 

Up next "Tank" James Thomas took an early lead over Stuart Halliwell, then Halliwell replied instantly to level up, in the third leg it was "Tank" who went back ahead but this time he kept it and won it in the fourth to double the Pussies lead. 

In a close fought third game Cutlers Darren Day hit a 16 darter and a maximum on his way to a 3-2 victory over Thomas Wright to pull a game back for the Cutlers. 

In the fourth singles another match that went to a decider as Peter Bell took on Glynn Harris and after going 2-0 up Bell looked certain of the win to level the scores but back came Harris in the second half of the match and took out legs with a 20 darter and a 21 dart leg to complete the comeback and dent the Cutlers chance of victory.

As the pairs kicked off Cutlers were still in with an outside chance of a draw as Halliwell and Andrew Pike faced Mick Swift and Paul Meehan but the Cutlers pairing couldn't get it going as they went down 2-0 which gave the Pussies victory with one more to go. In the other doubles Thomas and Harris took out Bowers and Day to complete a 5-1 Pussies victory.

It was a close finish in the 801 triples match as Meehan, Wright and Harris were celebrating victory for the Pussies over Pike, Bowers and Pryor by just 16 points.

We're at the Railway next as Railwaymen who've lost there opening two matches were looking to get their season up and running against a Wolves side who have a win and draw in their first couple of games.

Railwaymen's Steve Brittle had a tricky start to the night against Wolves captain "Super Daff's" Pete Daffin but he put up a good game after Daffin took the first leg, Brittle equalised with a 21 darter. Captain Daffin then stepped it up for the Wolves as he took out a 17 and an 18 dart leg to put the Wolves ahead. 

In the second game Wolves Laura Taylor put her best performance in to date as she had to come from behind against Alan Jackson to grab a 3-1 victory to put the Wolves two up.

Glynn Payne managed to keep the Railwaymen in the game in match three after going behind to John Lieber, Payne managed to turn it around for the third consecutive 3-1 scoreline. 

In game four the Railwaymen drew level as Gavin Pillling defeated Kevin Bird by three legs to nil, taking out a 21 darter to win it.

In a crucial fifth match,  Wolves John Lieber and Lee Birch took the lead over Steve Brittle and Glynn Payne which looked like they were going to put the Wolves in the driving seat for the win, Brittle and Payne overturned the deficit to secure the victory to put the Railwaymen in with a chance of the win going into the final match.

It was Wolves captain Pete Daffin to the rescue as he and Laura Taylor teamed up and put Gavin Pilling and Alan Jackson to the sword with a 2-0 scoreline to secure a draw which was a fair result for both teams.

After a close tussle in the singles and doubles games between the two teams, the 801 match didn't disappoint and could've gone either way but it was the Railwaymen's Pilling, Brittle and Jackson who secured the win over Taylor, Lee Birch and Daffin by a scoreline of 17 points to finish off a good night of darts.

In the final game of week four we're at the Midland as the Warriors who lost their opening two games take on a Aces team who have a win and a draw. 

Up first was "Hero" Steve Newton who nearly got the Warriors off to a good start as he came back from 2-0 down against Ian Speed, only for Speed to nick it at the final leg to give the Aces the lead. 

Warriors equalised through Ian Webster defeating Trevor Tye by a 3-0 margin to draw the teams level. 

In the third match Warriors captain Paul Brittle put his team ahead as he beat a Dave Belfitt in four legs.

In the fourth singles game Aces Mick Smith hit a maximum and a 20 darter on his way to a successive 3-1 victory over Nicola Warne to tie the match again heading to the doubles.

In a vital pairs match it was "Hero" Steve Newton and Paul Brittle for the Warriors against Speed and Belfitt. Warriors team didn't start well as they couldn't find any momentum as they fell to a defeat which gave the Aces a chance of victory in which they achieved in the next game as Smith and Tye took out Webster and Warne by the same 2-0 scoreline.

In the 801 match the Aces, Mick Smith, Tye and Speed won the game over the Brittle's Angela and Barry as well as Sandra Webster by a 286 point margin to end the weeks action.

We start week three at the Newbold Aces as the hosts played the Wolves in a close fought encounter, Wes Deane opened the night with a 21 and a 16 dart leg on his way to a 3-1 win over Lee Birch to make it a solid start for the Aces. 

Wolves captain Pete Daffin quickly levelled the scores over Ian Speed as "Super Daff's" played some solid darts taking out a 17, 20 and a 15 dart finish to win the match and equalise.

Up next was Mick Smith against Laura Taylor in a match which saw Smith kick off with a 17 darter then Smith doubled his lead soon after, then Taylor took a leg in the third but Smith won it in the fourth to put the Aces back in front. 

In the final singles game Trevor Tye started well for the Aces as he went one up over John Lieber, Lieber then found his range and after equalising it was Lieber who took control and ran out with a 3-1 victory to make it two each.

As the pairs started with the scores level between the two sides. Wolves captain paired himself alongside Laura Taylor but the two struggled as the pairing of Wes Deane and Trevor Tye didn't drop a leg to which gave the Aces a chance of victory going into the other pairs. 

In the next pairs with the scoreline on a knife edge Mick Smith and Ian Speed had a chance to win it for the home side but they found John Lieber and Birch in good form and they rescued a draw for the Wolves.

In the 801 match the trio of Speed, Smith and Tye defeated Daffin, Lieber and Birch by a 66 points scoreline to finish off the night.

Over at the Woodbourne it was the Bears who struggled to get a grip on the game as they faced an in form Panthers in the clash of the Woody teams as Panthers Russ Simons kicked off with a 3-0 win over Adam Smith. 

Richard Honeyman and Brian Jones both hit 19 dart legs as they squared up against each other but it was Honeyman who ran out a 3-1 winner to put the Panthers two up. 

Things went from bad to worse for the Bears as Tracy Bell took on Richard Brown who hit a 19 darter in his way to a three leg win.

In the fourth game on it was the battle of the Mick's as Panthers Hulley defeated Wood in another 3-0 scoreline winning the match with an 18 darter to give the Panthers an early win with still the pairs and triples to play.

As the doubles kicked off the Bears team were in disarray only taking one leg in four games and it didn't get any better for them in the doubles as the Richard duo Honeyman and Brown defeated father and son Adam and Andy Smith by a 2-0 scoreline. 

To wrap up the pairs, Panthers Mick Hulley and Russ Simons defeated Pat Finney and Tracy Bell by two games to one to complete the Panthers whitewash.

In the 801 triples, the Bears were looking for a consolation as captain Antonio Cruz put himself alongside Mick Wood and Pat Finney in a contest with Richard's Honeyman and Brown who had Russ Simons alongside them. Bears team couldn't get a grip on the game as the Panthers trio completed the night with a full house of wins taking the match by a 124 point scoreline.

Black Eagles 6-0 Railwaymen

Over at the other side of the Woodbourne, Black Eagles took on the Railwaymen with the Champions dominating from the off as Jelger Tuinstra defeated Mark Howell 3-1 hitting a 19 and an 18 darter to win it. 

Up next "Turbo" Trevor Burkhill took out a 19 and a 17 dart leg on his way to a 3-0 win over Steve Brittle to double the Black Eagles lead.

Alan Jackson for the Railwaymen was up against Steve Briggs next but he found it tough as Briggs hit an 18 and then a 17 darter for the victory to make it three in three for the hie side.

It was the former World Champion John Walton fourth on against Gavin Pilling and Walton didn't let the team down as he recorded legs of 19, 18 and 17 darters to put Pilling to the sword in a 3-0 rout to make it four for the defending Champions.

In the pairs it was Tuinstra and Cubitt who didn't put a foot wrong in their game against Howell and Jackson as their recorded a 2-0 win.

Railwaymen's Steve Brittle and Pilling managed a leg over John Walton and Steve Brigs but couldn't finish them off as they went down 2-1 to round off a 6-0 scoreline for the home side.

As the triples game got underway the Railwaymen trio of Steve Brittle, Alan Jackson and Gavin Pilling were looking to get something out of the match against Owen Cubitt, Ryan Goffin and Tom Briggs and they came quite close but the Black Eagles trio took the game by 35 points in the end to complete a clean sweep.

Over at the Wilton, Pirates took on the Warriors with both teams searching for their first win of the season. Pirates Casril got off to a perfect start as he defeated captain Paul Brittle 3-0.

Anne Simmons continued where Casril left off as she too took a good scalp defeating Nicola Warne by the same 3-0 scoreline.

Warriors were on the ropes early after two early losses but "Hero" Steve Newton pulled a game back for them winning Lee Slack by three legs to one.

In game four, Ian Webster was very close to levelling the scores up but he only went down in the final leg against Gareth Chivers who scraped over the line to make it 3-1 to the Pirates after the singles.

You could've forgiven the Warriors not to have felt a bit deflated after the last singles game, losing it like they did made a big difference to the scoreline, it didn't get any better for them in the pairs as Steve Newton and Nicola Warne lost out to husband/wife Anne and Sie Simmons by two legs to nil.

Another married couple Paul and Angela Brittle paired up to play Gareth Chivers and Lee Slack. Pirates duo took the lead but the Brittles hit back to level but unfortunately they couldn't keep the momentum going and went down 2-1 which gave the Pirates a 5-1 victory for their first win of the season.

In the 3 v 3 match it was the Warriors trio of Angela Brittle, Sandra Webster and Barry Brittle celebrating as they won by a 5 point margin over Mandy Slack, S. Gregory and Xenia Chivers to end the night.

In the final game of week three in the Franchise Darts League we head to the Cutler who hosted there first ever League game against the Academicals. Things didn't get off to the best of starts for the hosts as Matt Pryor went down to Adam Warner 3-0. Darren Daly hit a 19 dart leg for the Cutlers to open his game against Ben Tomlinson who had no reply as Daly won by the same 3-0 scoreline to level. In the final singles game Cutlers Lee Hart went down for the third consecutive 3-0 result against Jack Lewis which in theory levelled the scores up due to the Academicals fielding a weakened side.

Onto the pairs where only one match took place due to the Academicals being short but it was a solid victory for them as Adam Warner and Jack Lewis defeated Andrew Pike and Stuart Halliwell to rescue an unlikely draw despite conceding two games without playing.

To top off a remarkable performance from the Uni side, Lewis, Warner and Tomlinson win the 801 game over Sam Bowers, Hart and Pryor by 90 points to round off a great night for the team.
