Week 10 of the Leadmill Franchise League kicked off with second in the table All Stars who were on a three match winning streak going into this game and looking to gain ground on the leaders Black Eagles at home to mid table Sausages. 


(Match 1) Tony Harper 3-0 Mark Ellis

First match of the night saw All Stars Tony Harper face Sausages' Mark Ellis. Harper started the better of the two as he broke the Ellis throw in the very first leg of the contest. On his own throw in the second leg he managed a 19 dart leg to extend the lead. Ellis knew he needed to hold throw to stand any chance but Harper rounded off a solid performance by winning the game in 21 darts to give the All Stars the lead. 


(Match 2) Richard Johnson 3-2 Shaun Greenfield 

Rich & Darren Johnson
Match two kicked off with Sausages Shaun 'Croc' Greenfield against Richard Johnson, 'Croc' started brightly breaking the Johnson throw to take the lead. Johnson hit back in the following leg with an 18 darter to equalise. In the third leg Johnson then found himself in front by hitting a 135 checkout , Croc wasn't to be fazed by that as he too manage to grab an equaliser to send the game into a deciding leg which saw Johnson just edged it to seal a 3-2 victory in a very close contest.


(Match 3) Terry Temple 3-2 Ben Beardmore

Terry Temple was up next for the All Stars looking to further extend the lead as he faced Ben 'Boom' Beardmore in what was another tight battle, The first leg saw Temple break throw early with a good 14 darter to take the lead, "Boom" hit back in the second leg equalising with a 16 dart leg to level the scores. Beardmore then managed to keep the form going to take a 2-1 lead at the halfway stage of the game. Temple wasn't finished yet as he forced the game into a deciding leg in 16 darts. Beardmore on throw had the advantage in the decider and as he stepped up to the oche to take out 99 he managed to bust his score and let Temple in and it was he who manged to pull off the victory by finishing the leg in 20 darts to put the All Stars three up.


(Match 4) Darren Johnson 3-0 Ben Dolman 

With the All Stars looking unstoppable tonight it was up to 'DJ" Darren Johnson to wrap up the victory in the fourth game as he played Ben Dolman. Johnson held his throw in the first leg to take the lead, Johnson stepped his foot on the gas in the next leg as he broke the Dolman throw finishing in 17 darts. Dolman tried to materialise a comeback but unfortunately for him it wasn't to be as DJ wrapped up victory to give the All Stars an unassailable 4-0 lead.


(Match 5) Tony Hull 3-0 Steve Ewington

In match 5 of the night saw Tony Hull face Steve Ewington who was looking to get the Sausages on the board. Hull took the first leg against the throw finishing in 18 darts from then on he didn't look back as he extended his advantage with a 19 darter. Ewington was looking for any sort of way back but it wasn't to be as Hull rounded off a good performance winning the game in 17 darts to put his team 5-0 up with one to play.

(Match 6) Kenny Hoult 3-0 Matt Pryor 

The final match in a rampant All Stars performance saw Kenny Hoult looking to make it a clean sweep as he faced Matt Pryor who was hoping for a consolation for the Sausages, Hoult kicked in with a 20 dart leg on throw to open his account, in the second leg against the throw Hoult turned up the heat with an 18 dart leg finishing on a 124 checkout to go 2-0 up. Hoult then wrapped up victory in the third leg to give the All Stars a resounding victory to keep on the heels of the leaders Black Eagles.

Over at the Woodbourne their was a closely fought Woodbourne derby as the leaders Black Eagles looking to extend their nine game winning streak face a fifth placed Panthers who before tonight's action are only 5 points off third spot. 


(Match 1) Greg Beard 2-3 Mick Hulley

The night started off with Greg 'Big Shot' Beard against Mick Hulley in a brilliant battle, Hulley raced two clear in 21 and 20 darts hitting a maximum and a 153 high finish but 'Big Shot' managed to pull himself together as he pulled it back to 2-1 with a 20 darter against the throw then in the fourth managing to grab an equaliser to push the game into a decider on the first game of the night. In the final leg it was Hulley who had the throw and he managed to take full advantage of that and win the game by the skin of his teeth 3-2 to put the Panthers in front.


Stephen Briggs
(Match 2) Steve Briggs 3-0 Russ Simons

In the second match of the evening saw Steve Briggs looking to equalise for the Black Eagles face Russ Simons of the Panthers. Briggs started well holding the throw to take an early lead. The second leg saw Simons with the darts but Briggs managed to break the throw to take full advantage of the game in which he cooly finished off with a maximum and a 19 dart leg to win by 3 legs to 0 and make it 1-1 between the two teams.


(Match 3) Pete Daffin 3-0 Mick Wood

With the scores level after two games 'Super Daff's' Pete Daffin played The Panthers Mick Wood. Mick knew he had to set his stall out quick to gain any advantage, the first leg saw Daffin hold throw to take the lead. In the second leg on the Wood throw, Daffin seized the initiative and took out the double to go two in front. In the third leg of the game Daffin stepped up his game to finish off the match in 17 darts to win by three legs to nil and put the Black Eagles in the lead for the first time.


(Match 4) Trevor Burkhill 3-1 John Schultz 

It was "Turbo time' in the fourth match as 'Turbo' Trevor Burkhill of the Black Eagles played John Schultz. The game started well for Schultz as he won the opening leg against the throw but after that Trev found the groove as he broke straight back with a 20 darter to level the scores then in the third leg 'Turbo' powered through a 16 dart leg to take the lead for the first time and it wasn't to be diminished as Trev finished in style with an 18 dart leg and a 129 bullseye finish to win the match and give the Black Eagles a 3-1 lead in the contest.


(Match 5) Jelger Tuinstra 3-2 John Lieber 

In match five of this Woodbourne derby it was a crucial game for both teams as Jelger Tuinstra and John Leiber did battle in an edge of your seat close run game. In the opening exchanges between the two players it was status quo as both men did well to hold their own throws and the game was like that all the way through. In the fourth leg Jelger hit a maximum then followed it with an 18 dart leg to make it two a piece and in the final leg of this gruelling contest Tuinstra finally manged to break the Leiber throw just at the right moment in the game to grab victory for the Black Eagles but the game could have gone either way with one to play.

(Match 6) Tom Briggs 1-3 Ryan Goffin

The final match of the night with the leaders 4-1 up saw Tom Briggs looking to rub salt in the wounds against Panthers Ryan Goffin. Goffin broke throw in the first leg to take the lead, back came Briggs with a 21 dart leg equaliser, The next leg saw the third consecutive break of throw as Goffin strolled back in front which gave him the boost he needed to go on and win the match in the fourth leg to seal a 3-1 victory to make the result more respectable as the leaders Black Eagles march on with a 4-2 win on the night.

Eighth played ninth at the Milton where the Magic faced the Uni lads Academicals who was looking to close a big 15 point gap between tonight's opponents.


(Match 1) Gav Markham 3-0 Tom Hogg

Up first for the Milton was Gav Markham as he played Tom Hogg. Markham kicked it off with a break of throw to take the lead, Hogg was looking for the reply in the second leg but Markham stood strong to hold throw to take a 2-0 advantage, in the third and final saw a rampant Gav seal the victory taking out the winning double to put the Magic in the lead.


(Match 2) Chris Markham 3-0 Jack Lewis

In the second game of the evening Gav's brother Chris was to toe the oche against The Uni Arms Jack Lewis. Markham was in no mood to give Lewis anything as he took the first leg then broke throw in the second to race clear, Chris managed to take a comfortable victory 3-0 to give the Magic a 2-0 advantage.


(Match 3) Steve Marfleet 3-0 Jonny Kirk

Jonny Kirk of the Academicals were looking to put a chalk on the board in game three as he faced a tough challenge taking on Steve Marfleet, as it proved as Marfleet took the lead with a break of throw in 18 darts, in the second leg Kirk tried to equalise but Marfleet slammed the door shut to go two up, In the third and what was the final leg Marfleet secured the win and set it up nicely for his team mate to grab victory.


(Match 4) Lee Cushworth 3-0 Matt Eardley

The fourth game at the Milton saw "The Dartin' Demon" Lee Cushworth looking to wrap it up early against Matt Eardley. 'Cushy' kicked off with a stunning 15 darter finishing with a 146 checkout to lay down a marker to his opponent, Cushworth then broke the Eardley throw in the next leg to heap further misery on his opponent in which he couldn't do anything about as Lee wrapped up the victory and give the Magic guaranteed victory on the night with still two to play.


(Match 5) Paul Harris 1-3 Adam Warner

With the game already won for the Magic Paul Harris stepped up to heap the misery on the Uni lads as he faced Adam Warner, Harris started the better of the two as he broke throw in the first leg of the game to take the lead, Warner broke back quickly to level the scores and from then on Warner gained confidence and it showed as he held throw to go in front for this time and Warner finished off Harris by winning the game against the throw to pull a game back for the Academicals going into the final game of the night.



(Match 6) Lester Bowers 3-0 Matt Royle

Rounding off the night at the Milton was Lester Bowers against Matt Royle, It was a game that saw Bowers tear into his opponent from the off giving little away he won the first leg, then he proceeded to break the Royle throw to go 2-0 up, finishing the game and the night off quite comfortably taking out the winning double to finish off a resounding night for the Magic.

As we head into the Station two close teams faced off as fourth placed Railwaymen looking to keep pressure on the Vulcans in third with just two points separating them before tonight host the Newbold Aces who find themselves in seventh place just five points off fifth. 

Jordan Payne

(Match 1) Jordan Payne 3-1 Jordan Fisher

We kick off with Railwaymen's Jordan Payne taking on Jordan Fisher of the Aces. The first two legs so both players hold their own throw then in the third leg saw Payne take the advantage by breaking the Fisher throw to take the lead for the first time in the game and that's when he took full advantage as in the fourth leg of the match Payne fired in a maximum winning the match in 19 darts to give the Railwaymen the lead.




(Match 2) Pete Bramley 3-2 Ian Speed

Up next was 'Perfect' Pete Bramley looking to double the Railwaymen's lead up against Ian Speed and just like in the first game of the evening both men held throw in the first two legs and then it was Speed who had the upper hand breaking throw for the first time to go 2-1 up and throwing for the match, Bramley managed to break back to level at two each and in the deciding leg in this exciting tussle it was Bramley who snatched victory taking out the winning double to win by three legs to two.


(Match 3) Mark Gurran 3-0 Neil Bradley

In the third game of the night and with the Railwaymen 2-0 up it was up to Neil Bradley of the Aces to keep his side in the game as he took on Mark Gurran. Gurran started the better player and broke throw in the first leg to take the lead. Bradley tried his best to keep in touch but Gurran took the second leg on throw to ease himself into a third leg in which he slotted in the deciding double to take a 3-0 victory for him and give his team a 3-0 lead on the night.


(Match 4) Martin Scott 3-1 Trev Tye

Martin Scott of the Railwaymen stepped up to the oche knowing that a victory would give his team the win, facing him was Trev Tye who knew that only a win would do to stand any chance of his team getting anything out of this match. Tye flew out of the blocks breaking throw in the first leg to take the lead, only for Scott to break straight back in 18 darts to level proceedings. Scott then began to hit solid darts as he took the lead for the first time hitting a 16 dart leg which set the platform for himself to win the game in the fourth leg in 21 darts which gave the Railwaymen the victory.

(Match 5) Gav Pilling 0-3 Mick Smith

The fifth match saw Gav Pilling looking to keep the Railwaymen's winning run going taking on Mick Smith of the Aces. The match started with Smith taking the lead with an 18 darter, then on the Pilling throw Smith turned up the heat breaking in 15 darts which set up a convincing victory as he rounded off the match in a 20 dart leg to seal victory and got a consolation point for the Aces.




(Match 6) Andy Bradbury 1-3 Rich Swainston 

In the final match of the evening saw Andy Bradbury take on the Aces Rich Swainston. It was a game which saw both men start steady both holding their throws to level at one each. Swainston then fired home a 17 dart leg to gain the upper hand and on the Bradbury throw Swainston saw an opening and took his chance well to grab a 3-1 victory to get some respectability for his team as the Railwaymen win 4-2 overall to keep the pressure on the top 3.

Back at the Woodbourne in the other room the Warriors who start tonight second bottom face a tricky Vulcans team who find themselves third looking to put a dent in the top two's lead.


(Match 1) Jodie Bruce 0-3 Matt Gray

In the first game of the night saw Warriors Jodie Bruce play Vulcans Matt Gray in a game which saw Gray start well winning the first leg to go in front. Gray then broke throw in the second leg in 18 darts to double his advantage with Jodie trying to keep pace but it just wasn't enough as Gray stormed to victory finishing the game in 19 darts to win 3-0 to give the Vulcans the lead.


(Match 2) Sandra Webster 0-3 Steve Stacey

Sandra Webster was next up for the Warriors as she faced an in form Steve Stacey and it showed in the first leg of the match where Stacey broke the throw to take the lead. Stacey carried the form into the second leg taking a 2-0 lead in 21 darts. Sandra couldn't cope with Stacey's high scoring and he rounded off the victory sealing it by hitting a 17 darter to win 3-0 and put the Vulcans 2-0 up.

Daz Layden

(Match 3) Ian Webster 0-3 Daz Layden

With the Vulcans 2-0 up Daz Layden was next up against the Warriors Ian Webster. Layden took an early lead to settle the nerves which led to him break the Webster throw in the next leg to go two up. Webster was looking to get himself back in the game but Layden was just too good as he romped to victory and put the Vulcans three up.





(Match 4) Nicola Warne 3-2 Jim Smith

Up next for the Warriors was Nicola Warne and standing in her way was Jim Smith of the Vulcans. In the first leg Warne took the an early lead on throw then she doubled her advantage in the second leg breaking the Smith throw in the process, Smith rallied and he managed to drag himself back into the game from the brink to level at two each but in the deciding leg it was Nicola Warne with nerves of steel to take victory in the final leg to win 3-2 and pull a game back for the Warriors.


(Match 5) Steve Newton 1-3 Anthony Warne 

The penultimate match of the night was between Steve Newton and Vulcans Anthony Warne in a match that saw Newton take the lead against the throw hitting a 21 darter in the process. Warne replied in the next leg with a stunning 15 dart leg to equalise that equalising leg gave Warne the boost he needed and from then on he powered through the rest of the game winning it by taking out a 106 finish, 17 dart leg to win the game outright for the Vulcans.

(Match 6) Paul Brittle 3-2 Dave Ward

The final game of the night saw Warriors Paul "The Undertaker" Brittle looking to earn a respectable result for his team up against Dave Ward. "The Undertaker" started very well winning the first two legs to take the advantage but Ward rallied and replied well taking it to the final leg of the night to determine the winner in which Brittle managed to cross the line hitting the winning double to grab a consolation for the Warriors in a 4-2 defeat overall.

We finish off with a basement battle at the Wilton as two out of the three bottom teams face off as bottom of the table Wizards face third bottom Wolves in a night which saw a new record for the league.


Martin Pell
(Match 1) Martin Pell 3-0 Pat Finney

The first game saw Martin Pell take on Wolves Pat Finney. Pell raced in front breaking throw in the first leg hitting two 140's in the process. Finney never really got going as Pell stormed clear and took full advantage with steady darts to take a 3-0 victory to give the Warriors an early lead.


(Match 2) Lee Slack 2-3 Simon Sawford

The captain Lee Slack was up next for the Wizards and he took on debutant Simon Sawford in a tightly fought matchup as both men traded legs back and forth throughout. Slack took the lead on throw which forced Sawford on the back foot which he responded by equalising to level the scores up. Slack then fired in a 20 dart leg to keep the throw and take a 2–1 lead. Sawford wasn't finished as he clawed back another equaliser to make the game two each and it was Simon who managed to grab victory in his first game for the Wolves  finally breaking the Slack throw to equalise for his new team.


Steve Naisbit
(Match 3) Sarah Gregory 0-3 Stephen Naisbitt

In the third game of the night saw one of the longest legs on record in the new Franchise League. We start in the first leg in which Naisbitt took the lead then what followed had to be seen to believe as it took an incredible 94 darts to finish as both players sat on double 1 and it was Naisbitt once again to take it hitting double one after countless times both players went for it. The second leg knocked the wind out of both players as Naisbitt manage to finish off Gregory in the third leg of the game to secure himself a 3-0 win to put the Wolves in front for the first time in the game.


(Match 4) Tony Casril 1-3 Ricardo Cruz

With the scores at 2-1 to the Wolves, Ricardo Cruz was next up looking to extend the lead against Tony Casril, both men showed what they're capable of after trading legs in the first two of the game it was Ricardo who got a stranglehold breaking throw in the third leg to take the lead, then runnning away with the game in the fourth leg to give the Wolves a handy 3-1 lead with just two to play.


(Match 5) Claire Thom 3-2 Jon Smethurst 

Match five saw an extraordinary comeback from Wizards Claire Thom against Wolves Jon Smethurst who went into the game looking to give the Wolves victory. Smethurst kicked off his game holding throw then breaking Thom to take a 2-0 lead with three legs to play but then the unthinkable started to happen, Thom started to claw her way back into the tie in the third leg Thom broke back then followed that with a hold of throw to tie the game up at 2-2 setting up a decider on Smethurst throw but that didn't faze Thom has she completed a stunning comeback taking out the final double to grab a 3-2 victory in what was unthinkable after the first two legs to make the night go the distance.


(Match 6) Michael Slack 3-1 Austin Stebbings

The final game of the night with the scores at 3-2 to the Wolves it was up to Austin Stebbings on his debut for the team to secure victory as he faced Michael Slack. Stebbings didn't show any signs of nerves as he blasted in a 21 darter against the throw to take the lead. Slack managed to reply with an equaliser to bring the scores level. In the third leg Slack took the lead for the first time in the game much to the annoyance of Stebbings and he never recovered as Slack rounded off the night with a 3-1 victory to rescue a 3-3 draw for the Wizards.
