It was the Club Qschool tournament at the Players bar in Rotherham and although the tournament was let down by over half the field not showing it was left with the rest throwing what will be described as the best and highest standard seen at a Club Qschool on record with well over 60 maximums and no fewer than 30 100+ checkouts.
Thomas Lovely was the star for the day as he makes his way to Wigan in January and any repeat near todays arrows will see him go very close.He kicked off today with a win over Challenge tour player Steve Hattersley with both men recording maximums.Tom then lost out to group winner Garry Davison who is a real talent that is for sure.Thomas then had a close game with his Dad Eddie Lovely a seasoned county star and challenge tour supremo who topped group 2.Thomas then produced a masterclass of finishing to see off England international Brian Doggy Dawson 5-4 in one hell of a game.Lee Cushworth was his opponent in the final after lee produced terrific darts all day and dersrved his spot in the final as he beat Bob Pinder,Adam Howard and Rob holroyd to claim top spot and then beat Greg Beard 5-2 before rattling off 3 ton plus outs including a 160 to come from 4-2 down to win 5-4 and set up the final but Lee was unlucky and ran out of steam after such a thrilling semi and came across Thomas who smashed in 15,16,12,17,18 for a 5-0 win in the final.Gary Davison and Brian Dawson was the losing semis with Gary having the better of Lester Bowers in a belting game with lester clawing back from 4-0 to level for the terrific last leg.Brian Dawson saw off Bob Pinder in the last 8 with legs of 15x3,13x2 and shared 6 maximums between them.Brilliant days darts of the highest quality.also on group 1 Dave Wilson and Kieron Potts proving tough opponents along with Gary Bright and a unlucky danny Glenger in group 2 with Steve Hattersley missing out in group 3 and Adam Howard,Rob Holroyd going out in the group of death
