Match 1
Week 5 of the Leadmill Franchise League kicked off with 2 teams yet to record victories this season in the Academicals and the Woodbourne Wolves which was a very closely fought contest all night. Match 1
In the first game of the night Academicals Declan Parsons faced Ricardo Cruz with both men giving their all. Declan won the first leg of the night against the darts but Ric quickly rallied to overturn the deficit to go in front 2-1 but Declan wasn't finished yet as he equalised and forced the game into a decider which Ricardo held out and took out the decisive double to put Wolves 1-0 up. 

Match 2

Danny Hall was up next for Academicals looking to level the scores and he faced Jon Smethurst and it was a close run game from he start with both men struggling to take a stranglehold on the tie. Smethurst took the lead in a first leg which finished on Double 1 and it was scrappy all the way with neither men finding their range but it was Hall that managed to take a 3-2 victory and level the scores for his team.

Match 3

Academicals Johnny Kirk was up next to take on Pat Finney and it was Kirk who flew out of the blocks in the first leg to take an early lead but Finney hit back and took the wind out of Kirk after equalising and Finney rallied in the fourth and fifth leg to win 3-1 and put Wolves back in front.

Match 4
John Edwards(Wolves)


In an evenly fought 4th game between Tom Wright and captain John Edwards it was Wright who started the brighter winning the first leg to go in front but captain Edwards stepped up a gear and with his consistency managed to equalise. Wright tried to keep up with the steady Edwards but to no avail as Edwards cleaned up the last 2 legs to win 3-1.

Match 5

The penultimate game of the night saw Brad Clowery looking to keep the Academicals in the match up against Wolves Steve Naisbitt and what a battle it was. Naisbitt flew in front taking the first two legs and it what looks like it was going to become victory for the Wolves, Clowery had other ideas and after bringing the match back level to 2-2 Steve tried to grasp the victory but after leaving tops it was Clowery who completed the comeback and won the game 3-2 and put the final match on a knife edge.

Match 6

The deciding match of the night saw young gun Connor Bowler face a determined Antonio Cruz and it was Connor who laid down a marker early and took the first leg. In the second leg Cruz hit back in style equalising with a ton checkout (20, D20, D20) to level the scores and make the game into a best of 3 to finish. After both men struggling to finish Bowler grabbed the initiative and got his nose in front again and this time weren't going to let go as he won the game 3-1 with a solid 19 dart leg finish to win the match for the Academicals.

The Railwaymen steamed into the Milton to face the Magic looking to make inroads towards the top half of the table.

Match 1

We kick off with Magic's Steve Marfleet against Jordan Payne which saw a consistent Marfleet (72 avg) broke the throw in the first then took an early 2-0 lead with a 20 dart leg in the second. Payne hit back in third to get one on the board but Marfleet wrapped up the 3-1 win with a 18 dart leg. 

Match 2

Next on Gav Markham looking to keep his teams form up faced "The Inferno" Tom Gurran and young Tom found his range early taking out a 20 dart leg to go 1-0 in front. Gav Markham then hit back with a maximum and he capitalised with a 17 dart leg to equalise, that's when his confidence began to grow and he strode through the remainder of the game to win 3-1.

Match 3

As match 3 started it seemed that Magic was in cruise control but in this league anything can happen and so it proved as Railwaymen's Martin Scot lead the comeback against Paul Harris. Harris never really got going in this game and Scot capitalised fully winning the game 3-0 and hitting a 20 dart leg to seal the victory and the comeback was on.

Match 4


Mark Gurran(Railwaymen)
It was a close game to call in the 4th game of the night between Lester Bowers and Mark Gurran which saw Railwaymen's Gurran set off racing in with a 20 dart leg against the throw to lay down a marker on his opponent. Bowers never really got going in this one and full credit to Gurran for taking full advantage as he took the second leg too to get a bit of breathing space for himself. Bowers threatened a comeback taking a leg but Gurran wasn't to be denied as he fired home the winning double to give himself a fantastic 3-1 victory over a tough opponent.

Match 5

Match 5 saw the best match of the night with the scores between the teams level at 2-2 an epic battle took place between 2 gladiators in Chris Markham and Brian Lewis. Lewis took an early lead but Markham fired back overturning the deficit to go 2-1 in front. With the pressure mounting on both players the fourth leg brought the best out of Lewis seeing him hit a maximum and winning the leg in 18 darts to level the scores again at 2-2 at take this bruising battle into a deciding leg. Lewis kicked off the decider knowing all he needs to is hold the darts to win the game and he cooly obliged as he took out the winning double to seal a 3-2 victory and completed his sides comeback with just 1 to play.

Match 6

The final match of the night at Milton saw Chris"The Blade" Keane looking to snatch a draw for the Milton face a tough match in Pete "Perfect" Bramley as it proved as Bramley broke the throw in the first leg and Keane never really recovered as Bramley powered to a 3-0 victory and with that gave his Railwaymen team a 4-2 victory against a tough Magic team.

Back at the Woodbourne saw the Newbold Aces looking for their first win of the season up against the Panthers who have just tasted defeat just once so far. 

Neil Bradley(ACES)
Match 1

Up first we had Panthers John Schultz up against the Aces Bradley and Schultz started the game brightly taking the first 2 legs to power his way in front, Bradley did well to fight back and after levelling the scores at 2-2 he managed to complete the comeback in the 5th and final leg to put Aces 1-0 up. 


Match 2

The second game of the night saw Ryan Goffin facing Smith looking to equalise for his team. Goffin started well putting himself in front in the very first leg. In the second Smith kicked into gear hitting a 21 dart leg to equalise then in the third he rallied to go 2-1 up with Goffin trying to reply in kind Smith finished the game off hitting a 20 darter to grab a 3-1 victory.

Match 3

Woodbourne landlord Pat Meeson was up next looking to pull something out of the bag for the Panthers team but he faced an on song Rich Swainston who weren't taking any prisoners. Swainston started well taking the first leg then in the second Swainston rattled in an 18 darter to go 2-0 in front against Meeson and as Pat tried to rally a comeback Swainston finished off the third leg to put Aces 3-0 in front at the halfway stage.

Match 4

In the fourth game of the night Panthers John Leiber looking to rally a comeback faced Speed who was looking to win it for the Aces but Leiber and the rest of the team had other ideas as both men shared the spoils in the first two legs, Leiber held his throw to go 2-1 in front then in the fourth leg Leiber hit a 19 darter to win the game 3-1 and start his team on the comeback trail.

Match 5

Mick Hulley and Trev Tye had a closely fought battle with both men playing well as it showed when Hulley kicked off with a 20 darter to take an early lead. Aces' Trev Tye replied hitting a solid 18 dart leg to bring the game level, Tye managed then to grab the third leg which included a maximum to put himself in the driving seat but Hulley wasn't going to be denied winning the fourth leg to drag the game into a decider. The final leg decider brought the best out of Hulley. Tye tried to keep in touch but Hulley got to a finish first and then he won the match in 20 darts to win the game 3-2 and forced the game into another deciding game this week. 

Match 6

The final match of the night saw Panthers Simons looking to rescue an unlikely draw for his team after losing the first 3 matches facing Belfitt who was looking to finally finish off the game for Aces. Simons got out of the blocks the quickest hitting a 20 dart leg to ease any nerves he had and then in the second he bettered it with a 19 to go 2-0 in front. Belfitt tried to respond but Simons was in no mood to give anything as he rounded off a good performance winning the third leg to give himself a 3-0 victory and complete the comeback for his team and rescue a well earned draw.

Woodbourne Warriors travelled to The Cumberland looking to end The Sausages fantastic start to the season.

Match 1

The night started with "Tiny" Marc Ellis up against "The Crow" Ian Webster. Webster managed to hit some big scores as he tried to grab a leg on the board but it wasn't enough to test "Tiny" as he romped home 3-0 to put the Sausages 1-0 in front.

Match 2

The second match of the night at Cumberland saw Angie Brittle looking to equalise for Warriors face Ben Dolman. Angie started slowly and found herself 1-0 down but after hitting some big scores tried to get back into the game couldn't get going she got close to pulling one back at 2-0 but just couldn't do enough as Dolman secured a 3-0 victory.

Match 3


With the Sausages 2-0 in front on the night, the next game was Ben "Boom" Beardmore facing Nicola Warne. "Boom" raced into a 2-0 lead but Warne found her range in the third leg bringing it back to 2-1 but she gave herself too much to do as Beardmore wrapped up the match hitting a 15 dart leg to win the game 3-1 and put the Sausages 3-0 up.

Match 4

In the the fourth game at the Cumberland, Matt Pryor was faced with the task of winning the match for his team early but standing in his way was Paul "The Undertaker" Brittle. Brittle kicked off the match by winning the first leg against the throw but he couldn't keep the form as Pryor hit back with consecutive legs to take the lead. In the fourth leg Brittle managed to hit the winning double to equalise and bring the game into a deciding leg to keep his team in it. Unfortunately for him it was Matt Pryor who managed to keep his calm and hit the decisive double to win the close contest 3-2 and give the Sausages an unassailable 4-0 lead.

Steve Newton(Warriors)
Match 5

Next match up was "The Landlord" Pete Bell looking to keep his teams winning run going for the night up against a solid Steve Newton and it showed when Newton throwing some cracking darts that put him 2-0 in front but up popped Bell who hit back with consecutive legs of his own to bring the game level and back to back deciders on the night. The deciding leg of the night saw Newton with the darts take advantage of that and win the game 3 legs to 2 to put one on the board for the Warriors.

Match 6

The final match of the evening saw Sausages Steve Ewington face Jodie Bruce. With the pressure totally off Steve on this final game. Jodie tried all she could do but Ewington was just too strong as he powered his way to a convincing 3-0 victory to give the Sausages a 5-1 victory overall.

Second place All Stars hoping to keep up with the leaders Black Eagles hosted a Wizards team looking to improve on their solidarity point so far this season.

Match 1 

The Allstars started the night with Carl Wilkinson up against Wizards Pell and Carl got off to a solid start hitting a 19 dart leg to go in front but the best was yet to come as in the second leg he rattled off a 14 dart leg and a 91 checkout to extend his lead. Wilkinson wasn't going to be stopped as he powered through the third leg to win 3-0 and get the All Stars off to a flyer.

Match 2


Second game of the night saw Mark Lawrence face Sarah Gregory and things didn't look good for Gregory as Lawrence won a steady first leg. After that Mark stepped things up wrapping the second leg in 21 darts  finishing on 72 and he saved the best until last when he won the game finishing in 17 darts to wrap up the win for himself. 

Match 3

Dave Copley(Allstars)
As the third match got going Lee Slack was looking to bring his Wizards team back in the game as he faced Dave Copley. Copley started well winning the first leg in 19 darts then he followed that up with a 17 in the second. Slack tried to respond but Copley weren't having any of it as he won the game with an 18 dart leg to put his team 3-0 in front.

Match 4

In the fourth game of the night Harper was looking to seal it for All Stars but standing in his way was young Michael Slack. Harper took things steady in the opening exchanges of the match which saw him go in front 2-0 then in the third leg he upped the ante and finished on an 18 dart leg to win the game 3-0 and guarantee victory for his team.

Match 5

Hull versus Simmons was next up in a game which saw Wizards get off the mark on the night with the very first leg which saw Simmons wrap it up in 21 darts. Back came Hull who hit a maximum on his way to a 19 darter to equalise at make the game status quo. Hull then raced through in the third leg of the match hitting a 21 dart leg to finish and put himself 2-1 in front. Hull then managed to finish off the game hitting the winning double to take the plaudits by 3 legs to 1.

Match 6

The final game of the tie saw Johnny Daniels up against Mandy Slack. Daniels started the game well winning the first leg to take the lead and he never looked back as Mandy tried to keep up but it was all in vain as Daniels relaxed and fired in back to back 18 dart legs with a 180 in the middle of them to sail home 3 legs to 0 and give the Allstars an overall 6-0 victory on the night.

Woodbourne Black Eagles took on the Vulcans in a game full of high spirits and top banter proving again the players made the right decision creating the franchise

Match 1.
Anthony Warne(Vulcans)
Anthony "Cornish" Warne kicked off with a 21 dart leg against Super Daffs Pete Daffin before Pete then levelled before Cornish held throw to make it 2-1 but then felt the wrath of Daffin as Pete hit back with a 16 dart leg to level and then a 15 to break throw hitting 2x140s in the last leg.
Match 2.
The Tiger Tony Darlow and Steel Ace Steve Stacey played out a thriller with Tony hitting a 18 to kick off before Stace hit back with a delightful 14 and the next was nip and tuck but went to Tony and then another tight leg was next with Tony hitting a maximum but the Steel Ace holding his nerve to level at 2-2.The Tiger then hit a 180 on his 2nd throw and hold on for a 16 dart leg to take the game 3-2 and put the Black eagle two up.

Match 3.
John Walton was next for the home side and Daz The Nuke Layden for the Vulcans and daz was straight into things with a 20 and 14 dart legs that put him 2-0 but John did have his chances and in the next Daz missed nothing taking it with a 158 outshot to put the visiting team from Frceheville back in it at 2-1.
Match 4.
Chris Gray played very well but was unlucky when coming up against an inform Turbo trev who rattled off legs of 17,14,16 with a maximum to put the Eagles 3-1 up.
Match 5.
Dave Hemsworth kicked off with a 21 dart leg against the power Phil Lambert and continued to dominate as he ran out 3-0 winner with Phil not quite getting into the game but had some solid scores and  he will be back.
Match 6.
Jim The Tractor Smith was up last for the visitors but ran into a rapid fir Simon Birkett who rattled off 20,19,18 dart legs to score a quick 3-0 win but Jim performed well with lots of solid scores but just not pushing Simon on the night to give the Black Eagles a 5-1 victory over the Frecheville Vulcans and remain in top spot
